CHRISTIE CLERMONT

Christie Clermont is a folk-based artist and designer. She is currently living and working in Atlanta with her husband and three sons. In 2021, she and her family relocated from Port-au-Prince, where she lived and created for six years. It was in Haiti, where the name Chez Christie was born. Chez (pronounced shay) means house. All of the production falls under the House of Christie.

Originally from Athens, Christie draws inspiration from her rich Southern upbringing and strong family roots, both of which continue to shape the direction and depth of her work.

Her art is defined by a vibrant use of color and bold, expressive lines that captivate the viewer and spark imagination. Christie’s work often centers on powerful depictions of women of color alongside striking abstract compositions, blending emotion with visual intensity.

Working with heavy body acrylics, watercolors, gold leaf, paper, and fabric, Christie creates layered pieces that are meant to leap off the canvas and tell a story. Her art reflects her personal experiences and perspective, inviting viewers to connect with both the narrative and the energy of each piece.

In addition to her work as a visual artist, Christie is also a passionate educator and domestic violence advocate. She teaches art to both children and adults, offering accessible tools and techniques to help others bring their creative visions to life. Through Sip & Paint events, Art Jams, and one-on-one classes, she encourages self-expression and believes that art can serve as a powerful outlet for releasing the stresses of everyday life.
